ARC Raiders has just rolled out a fresh live update, and there's a bit to chew on this time. The big talking point is the new Forgotten Relics event, but a lot of players will jump straight to the change around fr*e loadouts. It's the kind of thing people have complained about for ages, and now Embark is finally testing a stricter approach. fr*e loadouts get a reality checkFor a while now, fr*e loadouts have felt like a strange safety net. They let players enter a match with less on the line, which is fine in theory, but in practice it's also meant some people can play loose and reckless with no real downside. Converging Paths adds a longer chaseRunning from June 16 through July 27, Converging Paths is set up as a multi-step project tied to uncovered relics in the Display Case. It sounds simple enough, but it should keep players busy for a while. The rewards are the sort people actually notice: a Red-Black Saltwalker variant, a Sextant backpack charm, and some premium currency tokens. Not flashy for the sake of it, just useful enough to make the loop feel worth doing. That's usually when ARC Raiders works best, when the payoff is clear and you can feel the run matter.

Patch 1.33.0 cleans up the rough edgesThe patch notes are packed with fixes, but a few stand out more than others. Aiming down sights should feel more reliable now, and the odd map-fall bug around Fireballs and Pop parts has been squashed. There are also tweaks to ARC enemies, including the Rocketeer dropping Launcher Ammo instead of Heavy Ammo. On top of that, audio has been tightened up, extraction calls should play properly again, and Barricade Kits now behave the way they should when dismantled. Small stuff, sure, but this is the sort of cleanup players notice pretty quickly once they're back in a fight.

What it all points to nextEmbark's update cadence is changing too, with bigger seasonal drops now planned instead of the old monthly rhythm. That means the October Frozen Trail update could land with a lot more weight, and players are already watching for signs of more PvE-focused experiments and unusual map conditions. If this fr*e loadout test lands well, it may not stay a test for long.
